Poetry @ Chennai

Modern poetry meets its muse-in-translation.

“The Second Coming” (timing with Good Friday) is an open mic poetry event at Mocha, Chennai that blends the best of both the worlds. Of free verse and not-so-free translation. The word, once again, moves to centre-stage on world poetry day. So, bring your own poem, show off your originality, and perhaps prove that poetry-is-that-which-cannot-be-translated. Next, invalidate your proof. Read a reincarnated poem that you love. The poem that has been transferred to English from another tongue. Your favorite poem with its double life, its dual existence.

  1. It’s a very interesting concept. Too bad I live so far, I would attend!

  2. Cendrine, welcome to this blog. Yes, it’s too bad you live so far. Distances make us drift away, but doesn’t poetry often bridge that gap!
